Nokia prototype (possible N9) gets on the internet.

The guys from TechoBuffalo got a Nokia on their hands, which seems to be the predecessor of N8, the N9. What is not clear is why is it (still) running the Symbian OS, because Nokia promised that all their high-end devices which are going to be launched after the N8 will be running the MeeGo OS.

Is Vietnam the place where Apple decided to lose all their new devices?

After the story with the iPhone which was found by somebody in a pub in the United States, and of course, after the start of the investigation for possible theft against one editor from Gizmodo, a new (lost) iPhone appeared in Vietnam. This second device has 16 GB internal memory (on the device which was found in the U.S. it was written "XX GB"), and the main (big) difference is that it doesn't have any screws on the bottom, anything else being the same.

Now, another new device from Apple appears, again, in Vietnam. This time, it is an iPod touch, and the differences compared with the actual iPod Touch are that it seems to have a 2 megapixel camera, and 64 GB internal storage memory. On its back it is written "DVT-1", so it is 99% sure that this is not a final version.

June 7th is the date when Apple Worldwide Developers Conference is scheduled, and it is sure that we will have then a new iPhone, but I think that it is improbable to hear any announcement about a new iPod Touch there.

Even if when the story with the lost iPhone in that pub started I refused to accept that everything might have been planned by Apple, now, that is what I think. Apple is a...too serious company to lose devices like this. My opinion is that they are making this in order to explode the speculations about their devices, and so, their devices to get shortly after launch enormous popularity.

Take pictures or record with your webcam on Ubuntu.

Taking pictures or recording from webcam on Ubuntu is not hard at all, because Ubuntu has all drivers needed. You just need a software which is able to do "the job". "Cheese" is the application that can help you here. It's so far the most compatible software of this type for Ubuntu, and it can let you take pictures or record directly from your webcam. And you have an additional option, named "Burst". Using this, you can take multiple pictures automatically (by default it takes 4 photos with a delay of 1 seconds, but you can change this in preferences).

Search in Ubuntu Software Center for "Cheese".

Free alternative to Microsoft Office (no, not OpenOffice).

There are some free alternatives for Office suite provided by Microsoft, the most popular being OpenOffice (or, from what I saw, it think so). But there is an ... unexpected rival for those Office solution providers, which is Google. It has its own free Office suite, named Google Docs, which worked unexpected well for me so far. It is more than an Office packet, it's practically a little OS dedicated strictly for Office tasks. The saving procedure is processed on Google's servers, so everything you saved will be accessible from anywhere, with any OS, without an Office pack on that computer. Everything you do is exclusively done through your browser. You can create documents, presentations, onto Google Docs, or you can directly upload them into their native format. You can upload even pictures, feature which should be used only on faster connections.

I really recommend you to use this Office suite, but don't base exclusively on it, save your work on computer/external drive, just for any case. You need an account at Google. http://docs.google.com
